The Laidlaw Centre is proud to launch an open access, peer reviewed journal called the . We aim to present a collection of multi-media literature reviews, and other resources, that are reliable, robust, plain-language, accessible, and can be applied to common classroom challenges.
The resources in the Forum may be useful to a professional learning community who are working together to tackle a common challenge and require a succinct literature review. Or, they may be useful to an individual educator who wants high-quality information but doesn鈥檛 have the time or means to access a research database.
This year, our works come exclusively from students within the Master of Arts (MA) in Child Study & Education at the Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study (JICS) at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (小黄书视频). In 2022, the Forum will increase its reach and accept submissions of the most innovative and exciting writing, projects, videos, and classroom lessons produced by students across multiple graduate level programs at 小黄书视频/University of Toronto and beyond.
In our first issue, to commemorate the unprecedented move toward online learning due to COVID-19, the Forum features an all-digital collection of student 鈥渧ideo stories鈥 designed to support classroom teachers. Nine videos highlight research and classroom practises to support mathematics teaching, executive functions, social and emotional learning, and literacy in play-based kindergarten.
For the months of December and January, we are featuring Jamie Abtan鈥檚 10-minute video, Sustained Attention in the Elementary School Classroom. She discusses the challenges of fostering sustained attention the elementary school classroom and presents practical approaches to support student growth and development.
