Eligibility

The Staff Excellence Awards are designed to recognize frontline staff, which include USW employees, Confidentials, Professional Managers (PM) 1-5. Senior administrative managers in the category PM 6-9 are not eligible for these awards.

Nominations are welcome from the С»ÆÊéÊÓƵ community including faculty, staff and students. The lead nominator must ensure the support of at least two co-nominators for each nomination.

All administrative staff members at С»ÆÊéÊÓƵ (except senior management employees in category PM 6-9) may be nominated for any of the awards given they meet the specific criteria.

An individual is eligible to win the same award only once every three years. Additionally, an individual may receive only one award within a single calendar year.

You may nominate more than one individual per award category. Please use a separate nomination form for each individual nomination.

Nomination Requirements and Process

Nominations should describe in detail the specific contribution(s) that an individual or team / group has made in relation to one or more of the award objectives and assessment criteria. Successful nomination packages will typically focus on the objectives and criteria that the nominee best meets or exceeds rather than attempt to address all of the objectives and criteria.

A complete nomination package for an С»ÆÊéÊÓƵ staff award consists of the following:

  1. A cover letter from the lead nominator providing the rationale for the nomination and a description of the nominee’s(s’) contribution(s) and impact(s).
  2. A maximum of two letters of support from colleagues / peers. Please note:
    1. A letter of support signed by multiple individuals counts as one letter towards the total.
    2. If the lead nominator is not the nominee’s manager or supervisor, one supporting letter must be from the nominee’s manager or supervisor (or higher).
    3. Letters should not exceed two pages in length each.
    4. For tips on how to compile a successful nomination package, please see the University's guide on .

All nomination forms must be submitted electronically using the  by 11:59pm on February 27, 2025.

All nominations will be reviewed, and the winners selected by the Staff Recognition Awards Selection Committee, which will be chaired by the Chief Administrative Officer.

The Selection Committee Reserves the right to move nominations to a different category if they believe another category more accurately reflects a nominee's contributions.
